Judging by the number of lights flashing behind me and the speed that our electricity meter is flying around, Christmas is just around the corner. As well as our excitement for what’s to come in 2019 (more on that in a minute), it’s quite amazing to look back on how much we’ve achieved this year.
At the start of the year picturepath was just a demo, but in April we launched picturepath in the apple and google play stores. Our first schools started using picturepath in their classrooms around that time too. From that initial feedback, a lot of people wanted to share a timeline between home and school. We said “great, we’ll build that” which turned out to be a lot harder than we’d expected! Lots of effort over the summer from our development team eventually got that completed and the sharing ability is now being used by our premium users. We hope you find it useful.
We’ve continued to hunt down bugs and improve the usability (we’ve got a major overhaul of how to build and edit routines which you’ll see shortly after Christmas) as well as carefully adding to the functionality of picturepath. We want to keep the app simple and as intuitive as we can make it whilst also giving you, our picturepath community, the features that make your lives easier. Please keep feeding back to us what you like and don’t like and we’ll prioritise improvements based on your feedback.
Some of you might have seen picturepath at various events over the year and we want to say a massive thank you to the people who’ve invited us to exhibit. Since September we’ve been at Priestnall School’s SEN day, Autism Understood, given evidence to Ofsted about SEN effectiveness, Stockport SPACE’s annual conference, helped mentor teenagers on NCS (National Citizen Service), been at Kidz to Adultz North and the Autism Show at Event City, exhibited at Research SEND and Autism in Hand conferences and been down to speak to the Northampton Parent Forum Group.
There’s loads of exciting events planned for next year. We’ll try to spread the word on our social media (@mypicturepath on twitter, and “Picturepath” on facebook). The first event we’ll be attending, #CoPro19, is on January 21st in Stockport and is all about how schools and parents can work together more effectively. The list of speakers and workshops is very impressive. To find out more about the event and information about tickets click here.
